This work will bring our infrastructure up-to-date with current software and firmware. Among other things, the firmware updates applied to the disk arrays during the last downtime will be freshened to correct some remaining issues.
On Tuesday, March 20, 2007, OIT will have a scheduled campus wide interruption of all networking services from 5:00am to 7:00am EDT due to maintenance. See their posting for details.
Our maintenance window for today has closed. At this time, everything is back online with the following exceptions:

UPDATE: As of 8:00am, the software upgrade to our spam filtering software was not complete. We are going to bring up the mail infrastructure anyway and then turn on spam filtering later this morning when the upgrade is complete. You are likely to see more spam this morning during this time.
UPDATE: As of 8:45am, spam filtering is now back online. We only were able to partially upgrade the software and we will be scheduling another downtime soon.
We were experiencing trouble with a module in our gateway router leading to a loss of connectivity between the department and the outside. We have restarted the module and we believe things are back up. We will be closely monitoring the systems tonight.
On Wednesday, January 17, 2007, from 8:00am to 8:05am EST, the CS Department IMAP/POP server will be taken down briefly for an upgrade. This should take no more than a minute, and most clients should barely notice the outage.
Users of Microsoft Outlook may need to close the program and restart in order to re-connect to the server.
This will be the first step in a transition to a new Solaris OS for the IMAP server.
